What 4 factors Sustain your Energy?
This is the most common health problem facing the world today - our energy is being compromised & depleted in many different ways. The demands society places on us today demands more energy of us but unfortunately many people are turning to unhealthy options to 'keep their energy going' like pharmaceutical drugs, hard drugs, alcohol, sugar & caffeine.
Way before you become ill, stressed & depressed, your energy levels begin to slowly deplete. Your body is amazing & it puts up with a great deal of stress before it begins to breakdown. Once it begins to breakdown & your immune system has been severely compromised you are then susceptible to the many stress syndromes, auto immune diseases & cancers we see so prevalent today. It is so serious because once your immune system is so depleted, there is not much 'medicine' can do for you. Medicine is about treating symptoms & emergency situations. They do not focus on healing you mind & body holistically. So, there is a lot you need to do to not get yourself into this situation!

Movement - To keep your energy, blood flow, nerve flow, endorphins & opiates in your body flowing you need to keep moving. If your body is in certain postures too long because of work & stress you body will become inflexible & stagnate & degenerate. This is why exercise is so important & why treatments such as Chiropractic or Spinal Manipulative Therapy is so effective because it can stimulate movement & flexibilty from within.
Enrichment - Science shows us that when your mind is stimulated & enriched with novelty & fascination, it triggers protein synthesis that creates new neural pathways & genes - very important for our well being & ageing.
Connection - This is our sense of purpose, that our lives have meaning & we feel connected to a greater whole. We don't feel separate or isolated. We are emotionally content with who we are & this may come to us in different ways.
Physiology - Through nutrition we can sustain our energy levels. We know sugar & processed foods is the enemy. Sugar in it's many forms in processed carbohydrates merely spike our insulin levels for us to thereafter have low energy & food cravings - so you become overweight & have no energy!
All of these 4 key factors are interconnected. If you are missing any one of these it will affect your health adversely over a period of time. I have noticed in my practice experience over 16 years that some people do 1 or 2 of these very well but can still have major health problems. A real life example would be someone who was an exceptional athlete & nutrition was excellent - however, enrichment & connection may have been out of balance & they had a heart attack at age 40. One would assume in our society that someone who was very fit & ate well was 'healthy' - but we are more than just our physical bodies.
The secret to ALL success is keeping yourself happy. Make choices, moment by moment, that make you happy.
